It is now well known that stress can manifest itself emotionally and physically on the body. From depression, lower back pain, to weight gain. The more stressful your life the more down time you need. Whether that be taking some time to yourself each day such as meditation or getting a massage.

Are feeling like this?
One of the major combatants of stress is sleep. The more stress you’re under the more sleep I recommend. Think of stress as ‘yang’ and sleep as your ‘ying’ you have to find the balance.

Ying & Yang is a delicate dance
Generally 7.5-9 hours a night is needed for most people. The body tends to work in 90 minute sleep cycles. So you may in fact wake up feeling better after 6 hours of sleep versus 7 hours, since 6 hours is a factor of 90 minutes.
Any time you wake up feeling groggy you’ve woken up mid cycle.
I know some people say they only sleep 5-6 hour a night and say they feel fine. Well these people are kidding themselves! There are plenty of studies that show that the majority of people are sleep deprived. Most people should be aiming for 7.5-9 hours per night. The more stress in your day-to-day life the more you should be leaning towards 9 hours. Not only will you feel better you'll look better.
For myself I know when I get 9 hours of sleep I can take on the world! If you're one of those people who's normally only getting less than 7 hours or you normally feel tired during the week, give it a try. But note it has to done over a period of time, one night with extra sleep wont make much of a difference, allow yourself extra sleep over a two week span and then see how you feel.

Sleep tight.
